1. GROUP CONTENT:
The main purpose of this group is to sell off your gently used belongings, but it has also grown to include community information and support.
Please take notice of the types of postings that will not be allowed and could be removed without warning:
2. SWAP & SHOP ETHICS:
3. THREE STRIKE POLICY:
If you are continuously violating the guidelines, you will be removed after three strikes. Admins still reserve the right to remove you from the group at any time, regardless of how many strikes, if they feel that your violations are serious enough.
4. NO SHOW POLICY:
This includes buyers and sellers and is included in the Three Strike Policy. If you can't make it, PM the other party ASAP.
6. CAR SEATS:
CAR SEATS ARE ONLY TO BE SOLD IF THEY ARE 2012 COMPLIANT. Contact admin under the "I need help!" button if you have questions.
Make/Model/Manufacturing date MUST be posted with all Car Seat photos or the photos may be deleted without warning.
7. FREE SAMPLES/COUPONS:
No selling of free formula sample cans, Similac cheques, coupons, complimentary bus passes etc. Any item received for free from a member through this group cannot be sold for money. If reselling an item purchased in this group, you must not sell it for more than you paid.
8. ILLEGAL ITEMS:
Items that are illegal to be sold or given away in Canada are not allowed….such as:
- Prescription medication
- Firearms/pellet guns
- Non-compliant car seats
- Baby walkers
- Bath rings that suction to the bathtub
This list is not exhaustive and these posts will be removed without warning. Please also read this list provided by Varagesale for items prohibited by the Varagesale platform as a whole. http://help.varagesale.com/article/371-what-items-are-not-allowed
It is the seller’s responsibility to ensure that what you are selling is not illegal according to Health Canada's garage sale rules. This includes knowingly selling fake items and advertising them as genuine is grounds for IMMEDIATE removal & banning.
9. AUCTION SELLING:
No auction-style or Best Offer Only listings are permitted in the group. You cannot attempt to get a higher price by not advertising a price and asking people to BID on your item.
10. BUYER BEWARE:
All sales are AS/IS. It is YOUR responsibility to check over each item you purchase BEFORE making the transaction. DO NOT hand someone money until you are completely sure you are satisfied with the item. Once money has exchanged hands, the deal is final. If a problem arises, you may nicely ask the person you bought it from for help, but there is no rule saying they have to. Please take this into account before PM'ing an admin. Admins CANNOT get your money back for you!
11. FOOD ITEMS
If you are making food out of your home you need to write "This food has been produced in a home kitchen and not inspected by VIHA".
Food items should be posted in the WAHM marketplace and/or the small business directory if you are planning to do this as a business.
We do not allow the sale of food products that have been opened or if they have expired.
12. PERSONAL SAFETY:
Make sure to use the utmost in personal safety when meeting people to buy or sell items. All of these transactions are done at your OWN RISK, and we do not hold any liability for the actions of anyone or anything that may occur from the use of this group. Meeting in a public setting is always preferred when dealing with people you do not know and PMing personal information such as phone numbers and home addresses rather than posting them on the wall! Safety first!
This is a Swap & Shop. It is not the admins' nor members' responsibility to point out personal opinions on the usage of individual items being sold. Barring items that are illegal to be sold or given away such as non-compliant 2012 car seats and baby walkers etc, this would take too much room up on the wall. It is up to the parents to research the products they wish to purchase and decide for themselves what works best for them and their family.
