Picture this: It's Saturday night. The uber pulls up at Postinos in Gilbert where as usual there is a long line of hungry winos waiting in the entry, trying to act like 102 degrees at 8pm is totally fine and the sweat pouring down their faces make them look "dewy."
They anxiously eye the uber - Who's in there? Frankie Munoz? Some Suns player that isn't Steve Nash, because letsbehonestthatstheoneonlywewouldrecognizeandwedhedoesntlivehereanymore? BUT NO. It's YOU.
You effortlessly glide out of the car, toss your hair ever so slightly as you're trying to quickly close your handbag even as the clasp is being blocked by that mascara you didn't have time to apply. As you turn, the light catches two sparkly stones just kissing the bottom of your earlobes (okay, sidebar - I recognize that the physics of the light catching BOTH earrings at the same time doesn't really work here - but DREAM WITH ME people!). The warm peach/blush tones of the stones, along with the rose gold metal that holds these man-magnets in place make you look like the bronzed goddess THAT YOU ARE.
The sweating girls in the line turn away, wishing like hell they had chosen different jewelry. These earrings made a statement. They are big, bold, and sparkly while still somehow remaining dainty (no dangle, just dipping precariously from the lobe like a dew drop about to fall from a rose petal) and coy. They say - ICE QUEEN I AM NOT! I am fun, feminine, and I know what I'm worth.
The fact that you can't get these from any Kate Spade store anymore makes them just that much more valuable. You'll get compliments from a waitress that isn't even serving your table, to which you can smile "...these old things?" Motherly types will strike up a conversation with you in the restroom line, and end up offering to set you up their sons/grandsons/nephews because they will know - just by looking - you have taste.
The right jewelry (especially earrings) is important. Earrings bring attention to your face, your smile. The sparkle looks great in pictures. The size and color of these Kate Spade beauties cannot help but make your inner confidence shine.
The fact that they come with all the "trappings" (Kate Spade felt pouch, color block box, even shopping bag) adds to the fun of getting dressed. They were worn once during which time - I was proposed to, offered a C-level job at a fortune 500, and asked if I might consider giving the maid of honor speech at a wedding I was JUST PASSING BY.
Alright, so maybe those things didn't happen, but had they - wearing this little bit of frosting made me feel like I could've handled everything thrown at me that night. Your turn.
