The Golden Rule
We fully expect our members to be friendly, kind, truthful, and to treat others as they wish to be treated at all times.

How does this work?
Post a photo of the item you want to sell along with as much info as possible, such as: dimensions, how old, condition and price. When a member expresses interest such as "I want it" or "interested" you must give them a minimum of 12 hours to make mutually agreed upon arrangements. After 12 hours you can go to the next person in line that expressed interest on your post.

• Asking the seller a question does not guarantee you a spot in line. If you are interested but have questions, make sure to include "interested" or "I want" in your comment to be guaranteed a spot in line.

• Tagging a member does not put that member in line; an individual must post interest personally.

• Only comment on items you are serious about buying in a timely manner.

• Sending a personal message to the seller without commenting does not guarantee you a spot in line (sellers: selling to the person who sends a message without commenting will reflect badly on you and look as though you are not following the rules).

• Do not offer a member a lower price for their item on their post. After you comment, send them a personal message with your offer.

• Do not delete your sold items. Use the status button to mark your item as sold. Once marked sold, the item will self-delete in seven days.

• If you are not interested in purchasing an item, do not comment under the item.

How many items can I have up at a time?
There’s no limit, sell as much as you want. All we ask is you follow these guidelines:

• ONE PHOTO PER ITEM. You may use the comment section to provide alternate views of your item.

• ONE CATEGORY PER ITEM. Select the best category for your item and only post it once.

• ONE ITEM PER PHOTO unless being sold as a "lot" you should only have one item in each photo.

• If you have your item listed on another site, note in the description the item is "CROSS POSTED.”

Awesome, I see she is selling something I have too; can I just make a comment on her post that I have one to sell too?
No, making your own personal post is the right thing to do (this also applies to ISO post).

If I offer more than the member that is ahead of me in line, can the seller skip her and sell it to me? I really want that!
No, regardless, we use the “first/next in line” system.

I need to sell this item NOW! How do I do that?
Call it a FLASH SALE and sell it to the first person that can get the money to you.

Can I sell a car seat?
As long as it has not been in an accident and it is not expired. When listing a car seat or infant carrier, you must include the manufacturer, model number and expiration date. Buyers, buy at your own risk.

What about Home Businesses?

Can I post about a fundraiser?
Absolutely! Just make sure to follow our fundraiser guidelines. (We are currently updating this section. Please check with an Admin for more details.)

The following is NOT permitted in our community:

• The solicitation of donations.

• Selling, donating, offering or the rehoming of any animals.

• Real estate posted by an agent (by owner only).

• Illegal items.

• Stolen items.

• Counterfeit items.

• Any item which requires an ID to purchase (for example: alcohol and tobacco).

• Weapons and related items (for example: guns, ammo, tear gas, stun guns, etc).

• Any items prohibited by VarageSale.

The following will NOT be tolerated:

• Falsely describing your items.

• Removing your old post and reposting it.

• Posting your item more than one time.

• The advertisement of other swap groups.

• The posting of "outside links" in the feed.

• The use of profanity.

NO SHOW POLICY:
If you are unable to meet another member as planned and make no effort to contact the other party prior to the scheduled meet up, you will be given a strike. After the third strike, you will be removed from the group.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

• Personal information (such as your address and phone number) should NEVER be provided on a post. Always use personal messages to relay sensitive information.

• Publicly bashing a member (regardless of the circumstances) will not be tolerated and will result in an immediate suspension of your account. All issues should be handled privately.

• Portraying another member is not allowed. If found, the member will be permanently removed from our community.

• Members must be 18 years of age.

• In order to be an active member of our group, you MUST use your real Facebook account and it must be accessible at all times. We do not allow fake profiles, business profiles, duplicate profiles, or profiles for an animal/pet. There will not be any exceptions.

• If you have a problem with a member, please try to work it out among yourselves amicably. If you are unable to reach an agreement, please contact an administrator and provide as many details as possible. We will try our best to resolve the issue.

• This is a "buyers beware marketplace," it is your responsibility to check over all items before paying for them. We do not have a return or exchange policy.

• We as administrators are not responsible for the accuracy of any post or the the condition of any items, we are here simply to monitor and assist. We do not profit in any way from this swap site. We do it on a VOLUNTEER BASIS simply to give you an opportunity to clear out some clutter and make some cash. Please be nice to us.

• We reserve the right remove any member from this community at any time.

• [This community is for members who live in Kenner, Metairie, River Ridge, Harahan, Elmwood and Old Jefferson] We welcome members from the New Orleans Metro area, as long as they are willing to travel to Kenner, Metairie, River Ridge, Harahan, Elmwood or Old Jefferson to complete transactions. Please do not post your items for sale in our community if you do not plan to meet in the areas listed above.

• By being an active member of our community, you agree to comply with the rules above and our terms of use.

APPROVAL PROCESS:

• We require all members to use their real, full name. Fake names, aliases, and/or business profiles are not allowed.

• We have an age restriction to conduct transactions in our group. Members under age will not be approved.

• If you signed up through email, we will need additional information to verify your account before getting you approved.

• If you signed up through Facebook and have a very limited profile, we may need to verify your account before getting you approved.

• As mentioned before, this community is for members who live in Kenner, Metairie, River Ridge, Harahan, Elmwood and Old Jefferson. If you do not live in one of the aforementioned areas, you will be denied. We welcome members from the New Orleans Metro area, as long as they are willing to travel to Kenner, Metairie, River Ridge, Harahan, Elmwood or Old Jefferson to complete transactions.

OUR HISTORY:
This community was founded in November 2012 by Nancy M. as a buy/sell group on Facebook. As the Facebook group grew, Nancy realized she needed help maintaining it.
In June 2013, she added Stephanie E., Jessica J., Stephanie S., and Tiffany M. as admins.
In October of 2013, Jessica orchestrated the groups move from Facebook to VarageSale.
This community has been happily swapping on VarageSale since October 28, 2013.
