This Vintage Eastern European Lovely Black Forest Hand Carved Wooden Eagle perched on a stump towering over a frightened Fox (or Wolf) would look amazing on your mantle or desk or decor shelf at home or the cottage.
It is a vintage piece hand made in Europe (Likely Eastern Europe) around the 1960's.
The wood is not heavy like maple or oak but is not anywhere as light as balsam. And a bit lighter than our North American Pine. I expect its a native wood to eastern Europe like Finland, Scandinavia or Russia?
Some of these are selling for quite a pretty penny in various places online.
This one looks beautiful however there is a small piece missing on one wing tip. It could be sanded and touched up if someone is handy that way and stained to mask its current state.
Regardless this Wood hand carved sculpture still is a grand and gorgeous looking decor piece that would look fantastic on display somewhere.
the Wings were made to be Detachable. I assume that this made it much easier to transport in a persons luggage when they purchased it while on vacation in Europe to get it back to their home.
The wings fit in tightly using wood dowels and are firmly in place once reattached.
It stands 12.75" tall to the top of its head and an even taller 21" tall from the ground to the top of the wing tips. The wingspan is 27.5" tip to tip and the depth of the carving is around 5".
Can be picked up any day of the week in Waterloo days or evenings.
I can also get this down to Oakville or Burlington area just 4 short minutes off the
QEW - Bronte Road S. exit. I can get this down there every week.
And even though I do not get to Walkerton as frequently, if your not in a rush I can get this
up there as well.
