Selling a Vintage 1989 Artist Signed Hand Carved and Mounted Solid Wood Scarlet Ibis shore bird by husband and wife team artists, The Late Geoffrey & Widowed wife, Joanie Skeete from Edgecumbe on the Barbados Island, part of the Windward islands off the coast of Venezuela.

This Scarlet Ibis is carved wood and is perched on real lacquered wood that is embedded in a hand turned wooden "bowl" stand which is filled with shells, stones, shaved wood, dried water plants and resin. This keeps the figurine weighted and balanced as well as adding natural elements to their carved items. Many of the items used in the base were gathered in Barbados.

This is a beautiful detailed carving of a gorgeous Scarlet Ibis water bird. From the Threskiornithidae family that includes Ibis and Spoonbills.
This Scarlet Ibis measures a stunning 21.5" tall x 16" long. It is signed underneath by the artists.
It is valued between $400.00 and $500.00 dollars. I am selling this for less.

More about the artists:
The Skeete family operated as a husband and wife team with Geoffrey doing the carving and Joanie doing the painting. They lived in British Columbia, Canada and Barbados Island where they had a second home and spent much of their time there.
Their son and daughter-in-law eventually joined the company also.
in 2014 sadly Geoffrey Skeete passed away and John his son and John's wife took over the business.
Their work has been displayed in museums and wildlife sanctuaries in Barbados and Canada, but isn't often seen in the U.S.
