This lot consist of 5 original, NOT REPRODUCTION, pinback buttons. 1. “Dump JOHNSON in ‘68.” This is an anti Lyndon B. Johnson and Vietnam War button. Measures approximately 1 1/4’ diameter. Curl reads, “67 Big Store 112 McDougal St. NYC.” Some rust on back. 2. “Humphrey Muskie” red, white and blue button measuring approximately 1 1/8’. This is a Presidential button for the campaign of Hubert Humphrey and Edward Muskie.
3. “Labor For Carey” blue and white button. In 1969, Representative Hugh L. Carey ran unsuccessfully for New York City Council President in the Democratic Primary election. Curl has a Union Stamp. Measures approximately 1 1/4’ diameter. Eventually, Carey became the 51th Governor of New York from 1975 to 1982. 4. 2 “McGovern ‘72” campaign buttons. Blue and white. George McGovern ran for President in 1972 and was defeated by Richard Nixon. One measures approximately 1 1/2’ diameter and the other measures approximately approximately 1 1/8’.
All buttons are in very good condition with slight oxidation on the back. Colors are still vibrant after over 50 years!
