Rain barrel stands range in size from 22x22 to 24x24 inches and are comprised of 16 boards (2x10), 17 boards (2x8) or 18 boards (2x6) per vertical foot. Homeowners can paint, stain, seal or leave the natural wood finish unaltered. Boards are stacked in alternating directions and require no additional hardware. The same boards can be used to assemble a 2 foot tall bench stand constructed with 3.5 inch wood screws (not included). A solid base for support comprised of a 2x2 foot patio-stone, pavers, bricks, blocks or stones is recommended. Multiple stands can be stacked to provide additional height. Raising a rain barrel provides easier access to the bottom spigot and makes greater use of gravitational force to push water out of the rain barrel.
