Armand Marseille Antique Doll 3700 German Porcelain Bisque Head
$119
Armand Marseille 19" Leather/Composition/Porcelain German Antique Doll. This antique Armand Marseille 3700 is in very good condition with no cracks, chips, or repairs to the bisque. According to the book Armand Marseille Dolls, Revised 2nd Edition by Patricia R. Smith the 3700 series was made from 1900 through 1909. The leather body has composition legs from the knees down and porcelain forearms. The kid leather body is very old and you can see a little sawdust leakage from her body which is the reason for the tape in the middle. Her little foot sock is almost off but I see no damage underneath. She has a porcelain face with gorgeous fixed brown eyes. These may have been sleepy eyes and may have been set (glued) to stay open. She has four visible teeth, lovely painted lips and beautiful cheeks.I think she has a mohair wig. She has finely painted upper and lower lashes, multi-stroke brows, lovely cheek coloring, beautiful bisque lower arms with finely detailed fingers with some damage to thumbs and index fingers. Incised on her shoulder plate is 3700, MO 1/2 DEP. It looks like there may be other letters to the left of the MO lettering under the leather as well as Made in Germany under the middle section of the leather as the top part of the G is visible. Her clothes look original. The green velvet dress and hat are in poor condition. Also, included is the white satin dress, pantaloons, petticoat and stockings, all of which are in pretty good condition. Please look at all pictures. Please ask questions. The doll lives in a smoke free home. If anyone knows anything more about this doll all information would be appreciated. $119.00 OBO More pictures on request.
