Seed beads on beeswax covered deer skull.
(Note: This skull was found out on the mesa by a hiking friend, he did not kill it, it had been dead for who knows how long.)
This style of bead work was invented by the Huichol Indians of the Sierra Madre Occidental mountain range in Mexico. I taught myself to do this style of bead work after much admiration and appreciation of Huichol bead work. Beads are individually placed on a beeswax covered surface in geometric designs. It is kind of like a mini mosaic made from seed beads.
I finished this piece back in 2008 and kept it in my personal collection until now that I have decided to offer it to the public.
