Vintage Vasa Murrhina-Inspired Blown Glass Tumbler - Maker Unknown

Excellent Pre-Owned Condition. Firm Price. Pickup in Olathe. No Holds.

This beauty belonged to my stepdad who was a collector of this and that. This is one of those pieces he picked up along his life journey. I do not know who the maker is but its inspiration appears to be derived from Vasa Murrhina, which is a cased glass and means “vessel of gems”. Frank M. Fenton, in the 1960s, had glass chemist Charles Goe develop a way to make it, since the way it was made was long forgotten. However, this type of glass had a long history pre dating Fenton. The colors you see “floating” in the tumbler are part of the glass; really quite unique and vivid against the milky white background. It is blown glass with the pontil ground smooth. It measures 4¼” x 2½” H/D; weighs 4 oz.; colors are rainbow-like on a milky white background. For a collector of glass tumblers, this will be a unique piece to own.

Thanks for looking!
