Vintage "Legato" Pattern Bedside or End Table by Bassett Furniture
$43
Original Unaltered Condition. Pick-Up in Olathe.
This is the last piece we have of a set that belonged to my husband’s parents, that, somewhere along the last 27 years we “inherited”. This particular table was used in their guest bedroom as a bedside table but could easily serve as an extra end table wherever/whenever the need arises.
Bassett Furniture came out with a “trio-line” of Mid-Century Modern furniture in 1968 that went by the names of Coronada, Legato and Astra (link: http://dtxmcclain.tumblr.co...). This table is part of the Legato line. Attractive and purposeful; the table is sturdy and well-made. Crafted from solid hardwood with dowel joints, it offers clean transitional lines that will blend-in with most any style. There is one single dovetailed drawer with a drawer track guide and the 4-original brass “fan” pulls. The tabletop is pristine with regard to the fact that there are no cracks, crazing, etc. The only thing I notice is a discoloration of sorts in the stain in a few spots (see photos) perhaps due to the age of the table. There is wear that is consistent with unaltered vintage furniture of this age (see photos), which does not detract from the beauty or structural nature of this table.
Features:
Materials: Solid hardwood construction; dowel joints; dovetailed drawer; Walnut wood veneer tops; original brass hardware
Dimensions: 26” x 26” x 20½” W/D/H (a complete square); Drawer- 19 ½” x 13” W/D
Color: Mid-tone Walnut stain
Origin: Bassett, Virginia
