I have too many Perennial Bunching Onions. Would you like some?
A Bunching onion is one variation of the more common green onions that produces more than one bulb per plant and can be left in the soil over winter.
*Plant in full sun, well-drained soil with plenty of compost
*If onions are left in soil over winter; the following spring the onions will grow again with dark green leaves and little or no bulb. * During the growing period hill the plants with soil 2 or 3 times, higher with each hoeing. This forces the leaves higher up the plant resulting in extra-long blanched stalks and a much greater edible portion. *Hilling soil up around the plants will encourage the growth of longer, whiter stalks But is Not necessary.
