First off let me start by saying that this used to be a miniature 2 foot tall grandfather clock that doubled as a jewelry box with 3 opening compartments with hooks. One day it stopped working so I went to change the battery and when I pulled the battery out the whole compartment came off and the hands fell down and I found out it was going to be pretty expensive to fix the whole thing. So I also had a broken shadow box filled with masks from The Mask Play of Hahoe Byeolsin that I could not bear to part with as well. So I decided to combine them into a beautiful piece of art to display in your home. If you're not familiar The masks are an important intangible cultural asset in Korea and it's definitely something you should look up on. Each mask means something different and I have a huge collection of different shadow boxes containing these masks. I know you're probably thinking it's pretty vain of me to call it a masterpiece, but I am absolutely love with this. So much in love with it that it makes me want to share it.
