Only a few of you knew what I was facing the week of Thanksgiving. I traveled to the Laser Spine Institute of Louisiana in Shreveport, LA. Over the course of 2 days and 14 hours of general anesthesia, they performed three surgical procedures on my spine. The first procedure was done through 2 six incisions in my spine and was to get out any/all hardware from my initial spinal fusion in 2015. The next surgery was performed the following day and it was done from the front of my body through an 8" incision up the middle of my belly. This was the beginning of the spinal repair/rebuild. For surgery #3, I was flipped back onto my tummy, where they re-entered the two incisions in my back and added titanium bolts, anchors and screws.

The pics above show the rebuild of my new fancy spine and the second pic shows all the old hardware that was removed from my back. If you look carefully at one of the screws, you can see where the constant day to day pressure of my back pulling against those titanium screws, caused them to warp in the middle instead of being completely straight!

With all of that being said...im finally back to Pensacola from Shreveport, although I am not cleared to drive just yet. Me and my 3 kiddos (ages 12, 9, & 7), have been staying with my Mom at her house, at least until im released to go back to more of my normal activities, like driving and lifting heavier than a half gallon of milk.

Anyone that has items that they would like to pick up from my house prior to the holiday, just reach out and let me know. I had hopes of being back in my house by Christmas, but also will not push my body just to say I was able to do it. Mom's house is fantastic!! However, I do go by my house at least 3x a week or so...so lmk when you would like to pick up your items and I will leave them out and make them available from pick-up.
