BEAUTIFUL ROTEL RSX-1067 AVR FOR SALE!
This beautiful Audio Video Receiver was originally ordered in the duo-tone colour scheme that sets Rotel apart and made a clear break from the plain black boxes that most manufacturers saddle us with. The RSX-1067’s Silver front faceplate has a matte finish that is offset by the Black satin of the heat sinks and rack handles that reflect light in a different way, creating an interesting, elegant look. The Rotel brand name is proudly embossed into the top of the Silver front faceplate in deep relief, giving it the look of the high-priced component that it is.
Beautiful industrial design, numerous features, and an elaborate setup menu are important, but AVR's at this level survive on their overall sound quality, and this Rotel does not disappoint. The sound is very impressive, capturing tremendous excitement and bringing clarity to the smallest details making them come shining through. Voices are sharply defined and the intelligibility of the spoken word is excellent. Surround effects are first rate and at times can surprise you with voices or other sounds coming from positions in the dome of sound that envelopes you in the rear. The front sound stage is wide, deep, and high - a testament to the high quality of the Burr-Brown DAC’s at work decoding the critical digital feed at 24 bit/192 kHz for the best possible sound.
The Rotel RSX-1067 is built like a tank, weighing in at an incredible 54 lbs (24.6 kg)! It consists of three key components – DAC's (Digital to Analog Converters), the preamplifier, and the power amplifiers.
The DAC's are the Burr-Brown chip set from Tucson, Arizona. They are known for a warm, analog-sounding interpretation of the digital signal, and now have a love affair with MQA-encoded files. These DAC's are up-sampling everything to 24 bit/192 kHz hi-resolution audio, and then passing the analog signal off to the preamplifier.
The preamplifier must provide enough inputs for you to connect all your sources, as well as provide volume control, tone control, source selection, and setup menu. In this case, Rotel offers 5 of the all-important digital inputs – 2 optical, 3 coax (is that enough for you?); as well as 7 analog inputs. There are a plethora of outputs to meet any needs. Nowadays, the correct way to wire your video sources is HDMI to the TV; and then one fibre optic cable output from your TV to the Rotel RSX-1067. That way ALL your TV sources will receive the hi-end sound from your Rotel receiver. And you will need one only video-monitor-output cable from the RSX-1067 to the TV; that way the superb Rotel Setup Menu can be navigated on your TV. The Setup Menu gives you everything you need to tweak the system to fit your speakers, your room, and your personal taste. It is superb! Like any menu-based system, it takes a little getting-use-to, but once you become familiar, it works like a dream. The remote control is back-lit blue for ease of use at night (nice) and is easy to operate. This preamp really sounds good! There are undoubtedly many features I have not mentioned, but in summary - this is a jewel in the crown of the audio/video industry, and it sounds as good as it looks.
And here we come to the heart of the matter – the power amplifiers. Anchored by a massive 50 lb toroidal power transformer, the Rotel RSX-1067 delivers 150 watts RMS x 2 in 2-channel mode; 100 watts Root Mean Squared x 7 in 7-channel mode. This prodigious power supply is coupled with 4 x 15,000uF black 'Slit Foil' capacitors, which can store & deliver instantaneous current to the output devices, should the need arise for 'slam' during an action/adventure movie; or a dynamic part of your musical piece. 'Slit Foil' capacitors discharge ten times faster than conventional storage caps. You will notice 5 feet on the bottom of RSX-1067 to support the weight. You may also notice the temperature-controlled, whisper-quiet cooling fans on the bottom of RSX-1067 to maintain it's SOA. All of this power is available at the 24-karat gold-plated, WBT-style, 5-way binding posts, on the back of the unit.
I do have the owner's manual, and the remote control, but I do NOT have the factory box for this unit, so local delivery and pickup is the best solution (shipping a 54 lb unit might not survive).
