The machine I offer here is the adorable 3/4 sized Singer 192K which is also known as the Spartan; introduced by Singer in the late 1950s. This one was manufactured in 1960 and is a minimalistic version of the ever-popular Singer model 99K workhorse. That simply means there are no decals, no light and a simplified bobbin winder. It will easily sew a range of fabrics with the proper needle; anything from your delicate lingerie to denim jeans. One thing the Spartan has over the 99K is a more powerful motor at .8 amp! You may sew thin leather patches from time to time but, she is a domestic machine. If you plan to sew heavier leather regularly, please get an industrial machine designed for this task.
The Spartan is all metal. There are no computer boards or plastic gears to crack. It uses a drop-in class 66 bobbin. Three original vintage metal bobbins are included in this sale as well as graduated needle plate. Also included is a manual, the cords, and the original wooden dove-tailed base. Of course, a new 90/14 universal needle is installed. She also comes with a Birth Certificate certifying the date of manufacture allotment as per the ISMACS data base.
Buyers have been comfortable knowing the machine they buy from me is clean, in lovely condition, and is serviced. Tension is properly adjusted, all come adorned with new a bobbin tire and red spoon pin felt. All are thoroughly cleaned and oiled. The motors are inspected, armatures are cleaned, brushes and wiring are checked. You may certainly test before purchase.
