Very well-made International, All-Steel, All-American, Home/Storage/Bug-out Vehicle
The walls and ceiling are double - walled steel. Everything is steel with some insulation between the outside and inside steel walls.
Rear Dual-Tires
The Solar Bus Pros
Great for hunter-shack,
water-proof storage,
or living space that can move!
I use it as the largest option for a shed nowadays.
There are solar Awnings on the outside of the bus and are Double-hinged for individual or sets of four panels (down for added privacy, individually or in groups of 4 for two lifts up or down).
All window tinting was professionally installed in 2014.
All tires hold air, 4 rear tires have been properly converted from factory "split-rims", to "stay alive" rims/tires.
All Structural steel is welded, otherwise nuts and bolts (no screws).
No special licensing required (anybody with a common driver's license can operate this).
Welded-steel handrail with welded steel steps for rear door were added in 2012.
Air-conditioner above rear door was added in 2012.
More Solar Bus Pros
On the roof of the bus are 24 solar panels installed (approx. 2.4kw)!
Has at least one installed camera (used to be 16 with 6 of the cameras on the roof-top).
All panels are top-of-the-line Monocrystaline (roof panels are 2022 or 2023 to replace the previous hodge-podge collection of panels that were intalled previously; the awning solar panels were installed 2012).
Heaters, fans, lights, and everything else should work perfectly.
The 40' Diesel International Bus can be legally processed as a mobile home.
All Solar Arrays can be adjusted to 48v, 24v, or 12v power systems, or connected directly to a grid-tied inverter to earn a paycheck for the energy generation to the grid.
Free daily Solar Energy that will produce beyond our lifetimes!
In 2012 I Added a welded (grilled) under-the-bus carriage on both sides of bus for hoses, cables, etc.
Heavy-Duty alternator (new) added in 2015.
The Solar Bus Cons
Prospective buyer will need to bring their own heavy-duty battery (does not come with a battery). One battery will be fine to start and drive (original design accomodates two 12v large tractor-trailer batteries and has it's own lockable outside compartment door).
The exhaust developed a small hole in the manifold. Although repaired with a patch, replacement would ensure that idling fumes do not become a nuisance.
The bus has been parked for years and shows no signs of losing oil. However during the last long-distance drive, I had to keep oil onboard due to a drip which seems to appear only when driving (For each State the bus drove through required a quart or two; maybe less, cannot remember).
Some Solar Bus History
Up until 2014, the bus carried 16 batteries to power laptops, screens, security cameras, a dvr that remained on 24/7, and everything else that required energy.
The onboard batteries, excluding the two outside running batteries, were contained beneath two oposing bench/beds (now removed).
If converting this into a mobile home, expect to receive lower rates at the campgrounds! (*Be sure to inform the campground that you have your own electric and would prefer the cheaper "campsite" location (no electric service area).
With the exception of only two remaining stock bus bench/seats, the open area of the bus is huge (maybe longer than your house). The bus is ready to be implemented as a large garage or shed but can easily be fitted with a fresh water tank, gray water tank, and whatever else you might need.
If permanently parking for long-term living, the bus should be oriented with the solar wall facing South (to gain optimal east-west sunlight).
Solar Bus Valued Consideration
Roof-top solar (steel, hardware, solar panels, etc.) $5,810.00
Solar Array Awnings (steel, hardware, solar panels, etc.) $3,320.00
Bare Bus (everything but solar) $2,300.00
This Bus with all solar fully-loaded $11,430.00
I call it the "Bug-out" Vehicle
QUESTION: I was asked how many people the bus can sleep?
Answer: Depends on how they sleep. Bunk Beds to the ceiling? Full lenghth of bus with beds on both sides? I would say a lot of people is the answer.
wooo wooo
