This is a kind of glass no longer in production, commonly referred to as “Depression Glass” or “Carnival Glass” and is highly sought after by antique enthusiasts. It’s from the 1930s, in Mayfair pink.
With depression glass, the print on the jar will often be one of several common prints, but each jar will vary dramatically in shape, coloration, and overall quality in terms of the way the jar is shaped. Often the lids will be ill fitting or some part of the glass will be misshapen.
But this piece is really well made, perfectly shaped and has no defects or damage.
I inherited this from my grandmother, who gave it to my mom who then gave it to me. But it sits in a dark China cabinet all the time and I think it would be better if it went to someone who could appreciate and enjoy it.
This is truly a perfect rendition of this favorite Mayfair flower print and an unusually well-shaped cookie jar.
This glass is practically unbreakable, as any collector probably knows, so it will last for many generations.
I am pricing this cookie jar based on a few comps I found online. There are a few of the same Mayfair print pink cookie jars out there right now, but the ones I found were all either damaged and/or missing the lid. Still, I am pricing mine about the same as those, as to not overcharge. Regardless, feel free to make an offer below my asking price, because I do want this to go to a good home.
