This set of 120 Polychromos pencils is amazing, and sells for $320 to over $500, online! The pencils have been very lightly used. Most have only been used for creating the color key chart I taped inside the lid, for a quick reference guide. The pencils are imprinted, in gold, with the color name and corresponding Faber-Castell catalog number. However, when I received the set, each space was numbered, 1 though 120, and the pencils were nicely arranged in color gradient groups. Before using the pencils, and getting them mixed up, I created a matching key, so I could keep the pencils in that order.
Information copied from the Faber-Castell website:
Each pencil is part of the unique color matching system that encompasses all of the Faber-Castell products. The highest quality pigments are used to ensure unsurpassed light fastness, some colors even lasting more than 100 years! The buttery smooth color laydown offered by Polychromos pencils can be easily blended for layered effects, highlights, and transitions. Their break-resistant, water-resistant, smudgeproof 3.8 mm leads are encased in premium California cedar with Secureall bonding to resist breakage while providing sharp, fine lines and permanent, rich color.
The heirloom-quality handmade wooden case is finished with a rich stain, in a deep mahogany brown color, and features durable metal hinges and a metal handle for easy transport. The hinge is actually a sturdy, easy to grasp, handle. Two easy-open metal knobs open the case and lock it with a simple twist. Inside are two tiers of highly pigmented, brilliant Polychromos pencils for easy access to a total of 120 colors, and additional storage for accessories (I have added 2 pencil sharpeners, 2 erasers, and Derwent blender and burnished pencils, for your enjoyment.). The case measures 13 3/4”H x 22 3/4” W x 13 1/4”D, when fully extended. It closes to a height of 1 1/2”.
